Set in a rainforest environment, Singapore Zoo's world-famous ``Open Concept” offers the opportunity to experience and be inspired by the wonders of nature. Home to more than 2,400 specimens of over 300 species, 34 per cent of which are threatened, the Zoo has attained a strong reputation internationally for its conservation initiatives and breeding programmes.

To better meet the healthcare needs of its animals and working towards its aspiration to become a leading global centre of excellence for veterinary healthcare and research, a purpose-built Wildlife Healthcare and Research Centre was set up in March 2006. Annually, approximately 1.9 million visitors enjoy experiential learning journeys at the 28-hectare award-winning Zoo. Singapore Zoo is part of Wildlife Reserves Singapore. The Zoo is a designated rescued wildlife centre by the governing authority.

With many unique and wide-ranging rainforest experiences (wildlife tours, animal feeding sessions, keepers’ talk, animal shows, encounters with farmyard animals, water playground and wild carousel ride) that are sure to thrill both the young and old, do hit the zoo for some outdoor fun! Come visit the many themes we have like Wild Africa, Fragile Forest, Reptopia, Australasia, Asia, Rift Valley of Ethiopia, Primate Kingdom, Rainforest at KidzWorld, Reptile Garden, Tortoise Shell-ter and Treetops Trail.

How It's Designed

Set in a rainforest environment, Singapore Zoo is renowned for its ‘open concept’, which offers visitors from around the world the opportunity to be inspired by the wonders of nature and wildlife. Animals here live in spacious and landscaped environments, simulating that of their natural habitats. Singapore Zoo is also constantly evolving into an open, learning experience about wildlife. Interactive, educational content has become a feature of all exhibits. Through these interpretives, guests get to learn more about our animals and wildlife conservation efforts in an engaging way.
SG ZOO CONSERVATION

We continue to contribute to the global conservation effort through our captive breeding programmes. In 2014 alone, the zoo successfully bred over 100 animals — many of them endangered or threatened in the wild.

SG ZOO EDUCATION

EDUCATION

As part of our efforts to transform the park from an open zoo to a learning zoo, local and overseas student groups of between 30 to 200 persons can experience educational programmes ranging from day and night camps, behind-the-scenes and specially guided tours, to crafted workshops with us.
